Inception Posters

Inception Poster
Figure 1

This is one of the 3 posters that were created for the Inception film staring Leonardo DiCaprio. I think that this poster protrays the narrative of the film. I think, without watching the film, that it is one that involves buildings in some way, high class characters with an essence of violence. I can see this from the poster, with the buildings surrounding the characters, them dressed in smart clothing from a suit to a dress and weapons in the hand of the charcters.

Figure 2

Figure 2 is a comparison of another Warner Brothers film, directed by the same Christopher Nolan, that was so successfull that its used to promote the film. The film used to promote is called the Dark Knight, and by looking at the above image, you can see the similiarities in how they are used to make it so effective. Both using the effect of looking into the bulidings, with an effect of being surrounded by water is used on both posters. They are both holding an item. For the Dark Knight poster, the joker is holding his main character item of a jokers card, on the other hand i think that the main item for the inception main character is a gun.

Figure 3

In figure 3, all the main characters are included. I feel that the main effect in this is the vertical road that is behind the charcters. This gives the effect that the roads are closing in on the characters. Most of the characters are holding a weapon, which does tie into the narrative which would involve violence.

Inception Front Page Analysis

This is the front cover of film magazine, Total Film, advertising the film Inception. The front cover only consists of a colour scheme of red, blue, silver and white. By doing this, it allows all the colours to contrast against each other, without using too many of them. The main character is central into the magazine. By doing this, it can draw in readers by the actual profile of the celebrity actor, and attract people to go and see him in the film. The costume is very eye catching, along with the prop of the gun telling the reader a bit about the violence and mystery of the film. The text used, is the total film which has been altered to fit into the setting of the film and the name of the film that is advertised in front of the main character of it being Leonardo DiCaprio. There is a variety of buzz words and puffs used to advertise the magazine and hint at what article are inside, i will apply this to m magazine.

'Salt' Total Film Magazine Front Cover

This is the total film magazine front cover for the film 'Salt'. This is a film of a similar genre to what we want to produce. The most eye-catching thing in this front cover is the way the total film has been designed and the main chracter of Angelina Jolie. In my magazine front cover, i am going to make sure that the main character is the only thing on it, with the props of spray cans and graffiti used to draw in the attention of the reader by the story and unique aspects of the film. I feel that this magazine front cover has alot of text and information on it. When designing my front cover i am going to make sure that i don't make this as crowded, as i don't think it makes the front cover attractive and draws the attention off the main focus point of the film placed on the front. On the other hand, the colour scheme of black and organge contrasts very well, i will apply this to my front cover.
